Winter overalls in Lapland, summer wear in the archipelago, for a Finnish outdoor brand making the same clothes since 1982.

Hylje has been making overalls since 1982, designed in Naantali and built for the parts of a Finnish winter that involve standing still — ice fishing, snowmobiles, waiting for something to happen in the cold.
The first shoots were in Lapland, in the conditions the clothes are actually made for. Cold work: short light, long days, and garments that only look right on someone who has been outside long enough to stop performing.
This set is from later, and from the other end of the year — lighter pieces and beanies photographed over a summer in the archipelago, on a boat and around it.
The brief has stayed the same throughout. These are clothes people put on without thinking about it, so the pictures are made the same way: less styling than a catalogue would want, and taken while nobody is quite ready.
